Benefit Silent Auction

Brandon Smith is one of our favorite painters. Kara Wood, Brandon's wife, is a talented artist as well, a photographer who has shown in the gallery numerous times. Brandon and Kara are in the process of adopting a baby from Colombia (thus the "Birds and Bees" theme). To celebrate this new chapter in their lives--and to help defray the not inconsiderable costs of travel and adoption fees--a number of their close artist friends, colleagues and former students have generously donated artwork for a benefit silent auction. The auction will be held here at the gallery, and work can be previewed (and bid on) at the gallery starting on Wednesday, September 21st. We'll have a closing party--and the final bidding--at the gallery on Sunday, September 25th, 4-6 pm, coinciding with the Polk Street Blues Festival. Photos of donated pieces are below, as well as a list of artists scheduled to participate: it's an impressive roster. If you're interested in bidding but aren't going to be here in person, just give us a call at the gallery. Most pieces have a "Buy It Now" option, and bidding generally starts at or below one-third of the retail price of the piece. Special thanks to Greg Gandy and Brenda Bennett for their help wrangling art, to Francis Poon from Plein Air for his fabulous frames, and to Nick Weaver from Cupcake Vineyards.
